Job Details

We are a thriving family-owned, independent, long-established small animal practice in the beautiful Warwickshire towns of Leamington Spa and Kineton. We are looking for a new or recently qualified graduate, who would like to  larn or expand their skills in a highly supportive environment, within the new VetGP framework. We are also happy to consider part-time contracts, which might suit an experienced colleague looking to work fewer hours. We currently have 4 vets, 4 receptionists and 5 nurses and we are seeking a new colleague as part of our expansion programme. We try to foster a relaxed working environment with long consultation times (20-40 min), in a happy practice atmosphere. Lynn one of our vet experienced vets says about working here, “Of all the practices that I have worked for, this is the one where I’ve been most happy.”  Our ethos is always to put the interests of our patients as our first priority and have a team approach to clinical management of difficult cases. We have a high percentage of feline patients making the dog: cat split roughly 50:50 and cover a large geographic area, within which there are many competing corporate-owned veterinary clinics. We try to provide a high level of continuity of care with up-to-date clinical practice. Some of our clients travel for over an hour to reach us so we must be doing a few things right. We are an active nurse training practice working closely with several colleges. Amongst all the items of kit you might expect, we have digital X-ray, colour Doppler ultrasound, flexible endoscopes and brand-new in-house diagnostics. We use an external OOHs provider, and we normally start at  9am with consults finishing at  6pm during the weekdays and 9am to 3pm on Saturdays on a 1 in 3 rota. We offer a competitive salary with a range based on FT equivalence of £36K to £72K with bonuses.  Located centrally in the country, with great road and rail communications. We are just half an hour from central Birmingham by train with a good service to London (75 minutes). Birmingham International Airport is within easy reach, as are East Midlands, Luton and Manchester airports, and you can get to most of the country inside a couple of hours drive. Our location also means that we have plenty of choice when selecting specialist advice or which referral centre to use, and advanced imaging (CT/MRI) is readily available when required. Leamington has a lively social scene with a high student population, a wide range of cultural activities and lots of cafés and restaurants. During a normal year there are multiple social events, including arts, food, music fairs and PRIDE marches; and there is a good range of sports facilities, theatres and cinemas available. Kineton is much more rural, with beautiful Cotswold stone used in many of the buildings in the area. Both locations are expanding rapidly with a lot of inward investment; so it is a thriving community. Access to the peak district, Welsh Mountains and even the Lake District is relatively easy for those who like the high ground, but for those seeking more local countryside the area is full of beautiful walks, woodlands and open spaces.
