We want you to be the best version of yourself so at Voo Vets we have created a workplace where everyone belongs and has a voice, along with our culture of learning and development, we will give you the support needed to grow and succeed, and we will be there to celebrate your achievement along the way. Veterinary care has many challenges ahead – but we believe a diverse, collaborative team creates innovation and together we’ll meet these challenges and change the future.
Having started in the early 1890’s Voo Vets has seen many changes over the years. We are now one of London’s largest, family owned, independent practices, with a flagship referral hospital in Surbiton and seven smaller sites based in Greater London and the beautiful countryside of Surrey. We are constantly growing, evolving, and expanding, and are now looking for a full-time, ECC vet to join us at our 24hr Surbiton hospital. This could be an entry level ECC role right up to a leadership position within the team.
We have listened to our team and developed our rota in consultation with our ECC vets; they now feel it is the ideal ECC rota and is sustainable long term. Our full-time ECC vets work only 1 out of 4 weeks on nights; the rota pattern is 7 days on (daytime shifts only) and 7 days off, followed by 7 nights on and then 7 days off. If you are an experienced ECC vet and interested in leadership, we could potentially adapt the role to be day shifts only. You will be fully supported by 1-2 VNs and a VCA, and in the case of a surgical emergency where you may need another pair of hands, there is always a senior practitioner on call who is able to come in and help. We also have a role at out Battersea clinic, this will start with night only roles.
Our state-of-the-art hospital facilities are excellent. You will have access to all specialist diagnostics and benefit from a full on-site lab capable of same-day PCR turn around, our CT scanner- with support of Vet CT, as well as the opinions and services of our in-house certificate holders in dermatology (Carly), surgery (Kavit & Pierre), orthopaedics (Pierre + Ian), ECC (Giulia) and internal medicine (Stefanie). We have a top of the range ultrasound machine at Surbiton and access to specialists in Cardiology and Diagnostic imaging who perform live guided scans in real time and specialists in ophthalmology and Neurology to provide live guided investigations.
We work as a collaborative team between the ECC and the hospital, so rather than a quick patch up overnight, you will have case continuity and be part of the process throughout the patient’s treatment. We are also able to offer both Hydrotherapy and Physiotherapy via our internal team of Hydro- and Physiotherapists.
We provide so much support here and host plenty of team development sessions throughout the year, where we all meet for a day of training followed by a social event afterwards. We have regular internal training sessions on a variety of topics, which are recorded so you can listen to them when you can or attend the live meet.
We work extremely hard to make sure that work-life balance and your well-being is a priority. Our CPD allowance of £4000 can not only be used for professional development, but also personal. If you’d like to spend some of it on tennis or cooking lessons, this is absolutely supported! We have a well-being structure in place, so every team member has a wellbeing meeting when they start, and this is repeated every 4 months. We learn more about you and what you want to achieve both at work and outside. Our plan is individually tailored, as each person has different needs, but the plan is guided by our culture of positive working relationships and recognition.
Our vets start with us at 5.6 weeks annual leave, plus bank holidays and can accrue one additional day for every year worked, up to 7.6 weeks, which equates to 30 days plus any bank holidays you work in Lieu. We listened to what our team wanted when it came to developing our benefit package, and we now offer something that will really benefit the team wellbeing… after 18 months with us, you will be eligible to take your first week long paid sabbatical! This will then be offered to you again every 4 years for a duration of two weeks. Just think of the amazing travel opportunities you can take, knowing your job is safe and secure on your return.
We are a friendly, sociable team who like to get together both in and outside of work, whether this is for our monthly team lunches, regular appreciation nights, events organized at a branch level or our practice wide Christmas party, there is always something to get involved in.
