Full Job Description

The Role

We are looking for a GP veterinary surgeon to work in our Albrighton branch on a part time basis. Have you struggled to find a work pattern that suits you? Perhaps you have taken a break from the industry, have some restrictions in terms of what hours you can work or would like to improve your work/life balance with a reduction in hours? We can offer the right candidate significant flexibility.. you might want a couple of longer days or perhaps you want earlier finishes or even school hours? In return we are looking for a GP vet, who loves consulting.

The working day..

Our consultations are 15 (some are 30) minutes long in maximum 2hour blocks. Breaks for phone calls, reporting bloods and repeat prescriptions are built into the diary. We are an organised practice and leaving on time is the norm, not the exception! You will be supported by an RVN and receptionist. Our experienced RVN runs clinics which include- weight, senior, nail clips, AGs, POCs. The ability to do routine surgery is ideal but not essential for this role. Facilities and time to operate daily if desired. There is no ‘on call’ or OOH at this branch as we have our own night staff at our hospital. Saturday work is available nearby if the candidate desired. Our nearby hospital provides immediate clinical support to branch vets as well as providing OOH, diagnostic imaging, advanced surgery and overnight hospitalisation to branch cases. The job is located in Albrighton, which is a large village in Shropshire, just 5 minutes drive from J3, M54. It has a long established and loyal client base so we would like a vet who places a strong emphasis on building relationships with our clients and their pets.

About Us

St George’s are a busy, long established, RCVS-accredited veterinary practice with multiple sites alongside our hospital. Our main case load consists of dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs. Our ethos is to provide a high standard of supportive and compassionate care to our clients and their pets. Our 15-minute consults allow us to spend more time with our clients, focusing on quality rather than quantity. We encourage our vets to work cases up to a high standard, allowing clinical and professional freedom. We support each other clinically and case discussions are positively encouraged as part of a culture of support and collaboration. We offer the very best in preventative medicine as well as when pets are unwell, but we understand that all clients and their pets have individual needs.

Applicant Requirements

We would be looking for someone who is enthusiastic, confident, a team player with excellent communication skills, cheerful and willing to get stuck in. We are looking for at least 12 months of experience or more. Special interests will be welcomed and supported including relevant certificate study. This vacancy would also be suitable for transition back into practice for colleagues who may be currently on a career break. Progression to senior vet/branch leader roles are available with correct experience/training. Competitive Salary up to £48k pro-rata (dependent on experience) and full additional benefits associated with working for IVC.
