Wanted – Trainee Optical Assistants and you don’t need to be straight out of school to be considered!

We can help you discover and secure a career  in Domiciliary Optics by becoming a Trainee Optical Assistant, it really couldn’t be easier.

You just need to have excellent customer service skills, genuine kindness, great listening skills and the ability to discuss patients’ needs and products. You need to be able to drive as you also get out and about in the community with this role across the Surrey Region.

  • Do you want to help patients to be able to do simple things, like watch their favourite TV programme or read the newspaper?
  • Are you the person that brings a smile to face Alice’s as she reminisces and tell you about her younger years?
  • You can be the person that offers to stick the kettle on whilst the optician is testing Bill’s eyes as you know he is struggling with his mobility.

Your safety is important to us, you need to be double vaccinated due to the demographic of our patients and we will also apply on your behalf for an enhanced DBS check too, leave it all to us.

We are very proud of our salary & benefits package and this is discussed at interview stage but you do get a company car or car allowance plus bonus when your all trained up.

You should be passionate about working within the Optical Health Care sector, particularly in domiciliary care.

  • Through effective communication with elderly and vulnerable adults, you will demonstrate a positive and professional manner which will be enhances with patience, respect, dignity and empathy, both oral and written.
  • You will learn how to conduct pre-testing and to dispense products to customers, this includes Single Vision, Bi-focal and Varifocals
  • With training you will gain the confidence to carry out minor repairs and adjustments whilst on site.
  • Through training you will learn how to complete the NHS GOS by eGOS or forms and have a sound understanding of the voucher values.
  • Able to provide adequate business insurance cover for your vehicle and be a safe and confident driver.
  • Be prepared to undertake any additional training appropriate to your role
  • You will have an awareness of the commercial aims and objectives of the Company
  • You must be computer literate and able to use a variety of software packages with confidence.
  • Highly organised with an excellent attention to detail, displaying a high degree of accuracy in your work.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills and able to problem solve
