Full Job Description
The post holder will be an important part of the highly regarded Cancer and Aseptics Pharmacy teams; managing patients with both oncology and haematology diagnoses, on a variety of chemotherapy regimens including CAR-T and BMT. This is in addition to managing disease complications, therapeutic drug based complications and working with our palliative care team to give patients the best care.
Responsibilities will include the provision of a clinical ward pharmacy service and support to clinicians and other health care professionals. Verification of systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) prescriptions and (depending on rotation) ordering of parenteral nutrition. There will also be opportunities to work in the outpatient clinics, undertake audit work and support trainee pharmacists also on rotation.
Previous cancer experience is desirable but an interest for these very rewarding and interesting specialties is essential. You will need to work well as part of a team and possess excellent communication skills.

- To ensure the safe, clinically effective & cost efficient use of medicines within each rotation.
- To improve the quality of pharmaceutical care to patients.
- To gain knowledge & experience in the management for common diseases in each rotation.
- To gain accreditation to verify systemic anti-cancer treatment (SACT) prescriptions
- To gain accreditation to verify bone marrow transplant (BMT) and CAR-T treatment prescriptions
- To gain experience of the funding and monitoring of high cost drugs
- To support & develop trainee pharmacists, Band 6 pharmacists & medicines management pharmacy technicians as appropriate
