Job overview
We are seeking to appoint a Specialist Audiologist/Clinical Scientist/Healthcare Scientist to join our busy and friendly team.  This is a permanent post and is for 30.75 hours per week, and may include occasional, additional Saturday working to cover ENT clinics. You will need a well-motivated, enthusiastic qualified Audiologist.  We are an innovative department, providing a comprehensive audiology service.  You will join a highly motivated team, committed to providing a high quality service. The focus of this post will be on adult audiology, with responsibilities in complex adult audiological testing and rehabilitation and vestibular testing and rehabilitation.  There may be scope to use existing paediatric experience.  You must have excellent communication skills and have a desire to find creative and effective solutions for patient with a variety of hearing and balance problems.  You will be a competent practioner and able to work without supervision in the main department and as satellite clinics.  You will be expected to develop specialist expertise in some of our complex clinics although training will be given.  We are a training department and you would be expected to contribute to training junior staff and PTP and STP trainees at BSc and MSc level. You will have at least a BSc or MSc in Audiology or equivalent and will already have gained experience in a clinical setting.  RCCP/HPC registration or equivalent is essential.

The provision of a comprehensive audiology service within the context of the wider department Carrying out a range of specialised diagnostic vestibular and audiological tests Providing a comprehensive rehabilitation service to hearing impaired adults and children Maintaining own professional knowledge and contribute to the clinical developments of the department Using knowledge and experience in the training and supervision of junior staff and masters level trainees. Qualifications

Essential criteria
•MSc in Audiology or equivalent (or assessed study in Vestibular Audiology at M-level) •STP/HTS/CAC qualified (or equivalent) •State registration with HCPC (or in a position to apply).

Experience

Essential criteria
•Extensive experience in general audiology •Significant experience in vestibular assessment •Significant experience in adult rehabilitation •Experience in paediatric audiology •Experience in audit and service development
Desirable criteria
•Evidence of autonomous and unsupervised working •Experience with complex adult rehabilitation caseload eg unilateral hearing loss, severe/profound hearing loss, tinnitus •Experience in vestibular rehabilitation •Significant experience in paediatric assessment and habilitation

Knowledge

Essential criteria
•In- depth working knowledge of relevant national standards, policies, professional recommendations and guidelines •Theoretical and practical knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the ear •Techniques and equipment employed to evaluate hearing and vestibular disorders •Knowledge of hearing aids and their processing strategies and other relevant new technologies

Skills

Essential criteria
•Advanced skills in adult auditory rehabilitation and specialist tests of hearing function •Computer-literate, with good keyboard skills •Ability to extract clinical information from and communicate complex technical explanations to patients and carers.
Desirable criteria
•Ability and willingness to lead, offer opinions and direction in an effective team-spirited manner •Advanced research skills
