Full Job Description

Overview: We are the largest provider of veterinary care in the East Midlands. The main hospital is based at Pride Park in Derby and is home to a busy first opinion practice, a multidisciplinary referral service and an out-of-hours service, taking your skills to different locations. We have 12 practice sites in Derby, Burton and Nottingham offering a high-quality local service. This role will mainly support the Pride Veterinary centre but there may be some time spent at our Small Animal Practices to cover holidays and sickness. The hospital is RCVS approved and has well-equipped facilities including imaging and full surgical facilities plus onsite laboratory. We also have separate dog and cat wards to make sure we can keep our patients comfortable if they need to stay with us. Plus, separate exotics ward and isolation unit. We offer our clients 15-minute Vet and Nurse consults. The Team: Our dedicated, friendly, and experienced team pride themselves on providing the best care for pets and clients alike. Within the hospital, you will be supported by a team of friendly and highly skilled Nurses, mainly of whom hold advanced qualifications. You will work closely together each day, enabling you to build a close bond both with team members, patients and clients. We have a close-knit vet team who value the importance of supporting each other and sharing their knowledge to ensure we provide the best possible care to our patients. As a hospital we work alongside the referral team, who are happy to give case management advice and ensure smooth handover of cases that require internal referral. The Role: We are looking for a vet who enjoys consulting and inpatient care. This role would suit a vet with a medicine bias. This role will focus on providing excellent care for both our patients and clients. We also take in cases from our own and other local practices. There are endless opportunities for you to expand your knowledge and develop your skills by working closely with other members of the first opinion and referral teams. No 2 days are ever the same at the hospital, you will have the opportunity to utilise all your skills. The practices provide the ideal working environment to progress and develop further. We actively encourage and support CPD, with a number of team members holding or working towards certificates. As a practice we are constantly striving to improve the care we provide as a team we regularly undertake CPD cascading and case discussions. Alongside this we have a dedicated clinical governance group and first opinion audit group. The role is full time, working an average of 38 hours over 4 days per week but we will be flexible and consider part time/job share – the most important thing is finding the right person for our team! We offer our own out-of-hours service and have a dedicated experienced night team. You will take part in our weekend rota which works out as 1:6 Full Weekends and 1:5 Saturday with time back in lieu the next week. Required Skills and Experience:
