Full Job Description

Overview: We are the largest provider of veterinary care in the East Midlands. The main hospital is based at Pride Park in Derby and is home to a busy first opinion practice, a multidisciplinary referral service and an out-of-hours service. In total we have 10 practice sites across Derbyshire and Staffordshire working within the local community offering a high-quality local service. All our practices are RCVS approved and have well-equipped facilities including imaging and full surgical facilities plus onsite laboratory. We offer 15-minute Vet and Nurse consults. The Team: Due to our current vet moving home, we are now looking for a brand-new team member to help us to continue to offer this fantastic service to the local area. Our Langley Mill practice has been open since 2019 and is well established in the local area with regular clients. Within the practice, you will be supported by a team of friendly and well-trained Client Care Assistants (CCAs), Practice Nurse, Trainee Nurse and Veterinary Care Assistant. You will work closely together each day, enabling you to build a close bond both with team members, patients and clients. We welcome rotations of vet students and tutors from Nottingham Vet School into the practice. This provides fantastic opportunities for the team to support the next generation of Veterinary Surgeons. We have a close-knit vet team who value the importance of supporting each other and sharing their knowledge to ensure we provide the best possible care to our patients. The Role: This role can adjust to fit your career aspirations. If you want to learn more about practice management, we can help you, but equally if you prefer to concentrate on building the services you enjoy, we can help with that too. Building and maintaining your client base will be a key element of your responsibilities. You will have autonomy for your cases plus the full support of our hospital facilities and expert knowledge from the first opinion day and night teams and the referral services in Pride Park. With proven experience of small animal care, you will have a good working knowledge of core clinical procedures and will provide excellent client care. Our customers come back to us again and again because they know we care. There will be some sole charge work at this practice, so you will need to be confident in making decisions. We are also currently looking to recruit a Nurse for the practice so this role may suit a Vet and Nurse team looking for a practice to develop together. The role is full time, working an average of 38 hours over 4 days per week but we will consider part time/job share – our priority is finding the right person for our team! We offer our own out-of-hours service and have a dedicated night team. You will take part in our weekend rota which works out as 1:4 Saturday Mornings at a local practice and 1:8 Sundays at our hospital with time off in lieu the next week.
