Oxford Veterinary Specialists are excited to announce they are now inviting applicants for small animal orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery internship positions. This role is the perfect opportunity to work alongside a highly experienced ECVS and RCVS recognised specialist in small animal surgery and be provided with full support, mentoring and encouragement. This role will allow you to expand your skills, knowledge and experience in this area. The role consists of varying shifts and will include care of in-house patients during out of hours. Active involvement in client communication and patient care is expected with participation in consults and surgeries. Surgery Interns will openly engage in case discussions with the specialist and the nursing team. You will be expected to contribute to a positive, informative and respectful environment for all. Another key component to this role will be to maintain accurate records and written correspondence. Oxford Veterinary Specialists is a brand new purpose built Oothopaedic and soft tissue surgery referral centre in Farmoor, Oxford due to open in February 2023. Hannes Bergmann, the founder of Oxford Veterinary Specialists, graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna in 2001. He was awarded a Doctorate degree after undertaking research in canine pain management at the School of Veterinary Medicine in Hannover, Germany. Hannes received his specialist surgical training at the University of Berne, Switzerland, and became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2008. Hannes holds the European and RCVS Small Animal Surgery specialist status. Since 2007 Hannes has been working in small animal surgery referral hospitals in the UK and started to offer his services to private practices since 2015. Facilities include CT suite, state of the art theatre and prep facilities, digital radiography, arthroscopy equipment and provision for CPD events onsite. The applicant will need strong communication skills, compassion, reliability and be a great team player. A generous CPD allowance will be offered and professional fees for RCVS and VDS will be paid.
