Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Audiologist who is keen to develop and take on new responsibilities. As a band 6 Audiologist, you will be expected to have a wide clinical experience with skills in routine and complex adult clinics. You will have a degree (or equivalent) in Audiology and should have, or be working towards, professional state registration. Clinical Role
  • You will have experience in providing adult diagnostic hearing assessment and in routine and complex adult rehabilitation work
  • You will have prior experience of working with complex adult caseloads, which may include tinnitus clinics, and be familiar with onward referral criteria
  • Experience of working in diagnostic vestibular assessment would be desirable but not essential
  • Depending on experience and service need, there is scope for involvement in paediatric work
  • You will be required to push forward service quality and the technical knowledge of the department
Clinical Role

  • Working autonomously with your own caseload in a supportive environment. Involvement in training of junior team members.
  • An interest in diagnostic vestibular assessment is desirable but not essential

  • You will be expected to undertake operational management of a section of the wider service for which you will be supported by the Senior Management Team
  • You will be expected to develop novel ideas and implement change with a view to improving care, working practice and the reputation of the service
Additional Responsibilities
  • The candidate will be expected to be part of wider service development within the senior management team
  • You will be keen to develop wider clinical and management skills as part of your ongoing development
  • The role will involve training and supervision of internal and external students
  • You will be expected to complete audits and service evaluations to help maintain IQIPS accreditation
The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest District General Hospitals in the country. The hospital achieved Foundation Trust status on 1st June 2006. It was the first Foundation Trust in the South Central Strategic Health Authority. The Trust has a successful track record of delivering high quality acute medical and surgical services for 500,000 patients across West Berkshire, an area extending from Newbury in the west to Henley-on-Thames in the east, and including Wokingham and parts of Hampshire to the south and parts of Oxfordshire to the north. The Trust is Reading’s biggest employer. Independently undertakes diagnostic audiometric assessment and rehabilitation clinics and provides accurate individual management plans. This will be in a range of locations in Berkshire and South Oxfordshire (fixed site or via the mobile service unit) and also through use of virtual clinic tools. Supports ENT clinics and service users who require hearing aid maintenance and repair. Undertakes clinics for adults with more complex audiological needs. Undertakes clinical supervision and training of trainee staff. Updates own professional knowledge, keeping abreast of new digital hearing aid technology. Depending on experience and service need, may be involved in delivery of paediatric and/or vestibular assessment clinics. Takes a key role in quality improvement projects within the department including audit and service development within their clinical area. Manages a section of the wider adult audiology service with the support from the Service Lead for RBH Audiology.
