Full Job Description

The pharmacy has three main departments; Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital. ICHNT covers a vast area across West London; however the pharmacy team is well-known for being a friendly and very close department. As a rotational band 6 pharmacist, you will be expected to rotate across 4 different sites with opportunities to become integrated into each of our teams. You will have excellent exposure to our different specialist services in addition to our operational pharmacy teams, of which you will also be a valued team member. While you are a rotational resident pharmacist at ICHNT you will also be a core part of the hospital by joining the residency service, giving you the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills, which is an invaluable experience as you transition through your postgraduate clinical training. We have a huge focus on Education and Training, including In house teaching and support to complete your clinical diploma. Rotational resident pharmacists are the foundation of our service and as “pharmacists of the future”, they are a key focus for the department. We are looking for candidates with an excellent work ethic and the passion for becoming a well-rounded hospital pharmacist. As you progress through your foundation training and clinical pharmacy diploma, we will aim to support your learning by helping you to develop a core clinical knowledge and the ability to make sound clinical decisions.
  • Provide a high quality, patient focused clinical pharmacy service to patients by ensuring the safe, clinically efficient and cost effective use of drugs
  • To support technical and operational pharmacy services including dispensary, aseptics, medicines information on a rotational basis
  • Ensure that all medicines management processes are followed by staff and support the development of consistent medicines management practices across the trust
  • Deliver education and training to the multidisciplinary team including other pharmacy staff (such as trainee pharmacists) and other healthcare professionals
  • To help with the monitoring and implementation of Clinical Management Guidelines and Formulary adherence
  • To undertake continual professional development and maintain a CPD portfolio including continuing education and attendance at appropriate courses and study days in line with the requirements of professional body
  • To participate in late duties, on-calls, weekend and bank holiday rotas as determined by the needs of the Pharmacy Department
