NHS Lothian Pharmacy & Medicines Service Band 6 Pharmacists Permanent, 37.5 Hours per week Salary: £33,072 – £40,736 NHS Lothian covers Edinburgh city, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian. We are the second largest health system in NHS Scotland and one of only four teaching Boards. We have strategic partnerships with local Universities, Local Authorities and our four Integration Joint Boards. We serve a population of 900,000, providing a range of primary, community based and acute hospital services. We also provide regional and national services across a range of clinical specialties. The vision for the Pharmacy & Medicines service is to deliver clinically led, person-centred services to ensure patients across Lothian get the best from their medicines and pharmacy services. As a rapidly developing service, we offer a wide range of varied and challenging patient centred roles across many specialist areas; and, as part of our workforce plan, we are now recruiting talented and enthusiastic Band 6 Pharmacists to join our diverse staff group working across acute and mental health hospital sites including:

• The Western General Hospital, Edinburgh
• The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (including the Royal Hospital for Children & Young People, Edinburgh)
• St John’s Hospital, Livingston
• Royal Edinburgh Hospital, Edinburgh

We work closely with Strathclyde and Robert Gordon Universities and NES and pride ourselves on the range of training and development opportunities that are available to staff. Successful applicants will be supported to complete the NES Pharmacy competency based Foundation Training programme, whichis accredited by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and equips pharmacists with a broad range of core skills. In NHS Lothian, this is achieved by rotations giving experience in various specialities. On completion of Foundation Training, candidates will be provided with the opportunity to further develop their careers by applying for a funded post-graduate qualification. Successful candidates will have an enthusiasm for learning and development, a professional attitude, and a passion for working in healthcare with the potential to contribute to the delivery of our high quality pharmaceutical care. This is a rolling advert for Band 6 Pharmacist recruitment opportunities across all sites listed above. Please indicate your preferred hospital site(s) within your application; if you are interested in posts on multiple sites please rank the sites clearly in your order of preference. Successful candidates will be matched against available vacancies; taking into account service need, individual preference, skills and development needs. Although posts will be based in one of our hospital pharmacy departments, there will be a requirement to work at any site to meet the needs of the service. In the next year, we will be piloting an exciting opportunity to participate in cross-site and cross sector rotas between hospital and primary care; this will offer an invaluable training experience in a supportive environment across our single system pharmacy service. Opportunities may be available to participate in this.
