Full Job Description
Your role and responsibilities
Due to an increased case load we are looking to recruit an experienced Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to join our friendly hospital team on a permanent fulltime basis. Our brilliant team of talented nurses and PCAs work closely with our specialists, residents and interns in our mission to deliver the best small animal referral care in the North West.
We are a true multidisciplinary referral only hospital with departments in orthopaedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, neurology, internal medicine, oncology, anaesthesia and diagnostic imaging. Each of the clinical disciplines is staffed to European Diplomate or RCVS Specialist standards. The hospital is well equipped and provides excellent inpatient facilities with qualified RVNs and veterinary interns on-site 24/7. Imaging includes computed radiography, fluoroscopy (with digital subtraction and road-mapping), ultrasonography and on-site MRI and CT.
This role will involve animal handling, assisting vets and nurses in restraining animals for treatment, cleaning, walking and feeding patients, general cleaning and overall ensuring that all patients are comfortable and their wellbeing maintained.
Potential candidates will be passionate about the care they deliver to in-patients and have a real enthusiasm for learning. Referral experience is desirable although not necessary as the training and development of our people is important to us. Animal care/handling experience in a professional capacity is essential.
