Your role and responsibilities An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspirational and motivated Patient Care Assistant to join our dedicated team. We are looking to recruit someone who is conscientious and caring. Supported by the clinical team within the hospital, the Patient Assistant (PCA) will deliver care within the boundaries of their role and in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and document accurately following all interventions You will be part of a close-knit collaborative team who pride themselves in providing the highest standard of care to our patients and their owners. Our Service Nurse team is comprised of highly skilled experienced nurses and patient care assistants. You will be responsible for patient admissions, owner updates, dispensing medications, baseline assessments and be responsible for initiating arrangements for imaging and/or procedures. You will also work closely with the client care team in the acceptance of emergency referrals. As a PCA your role will involve but will not be limited to:
  • Assisting our registered nurses undertaking diagnostic examinations.
  • To provide care for the patient whilst maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • To support a high-quality clinical support service, entering patient data into computer systems, always ensuring attention to detail
  • Being professional, timely and reliable
  • Proficient use of Computer Software Systems, Microsoft Office ( Word, Excel)
Hours 40 hours per week, 8-4pm and 10-6pm. 4 x 10 hour shifts can also be considered to allow for a 4 day working week. 1 in 4 weekend days, (10 hour inpatient care shift). Each of the clinical disciplines is staffed to European Diplomate or RCVS Specialist standards. The hospital is well equipped and provides excellent inpatient facilities with qualified RVNs and veterinary interns on-site 24/7. Imaging includes computed radiography, fluoroscopy (with digital subtraction and road-mapping), ultrasonography and on-site MRI and CT.
