Location

Location

Welcome to Bristol!

Home of the annual Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, where every year locals plus visitors of up to 10,000 from far and wide look up above in wonder as hundreds of Hot Air Balloons take to the sky. This is a tradition that has been running since 1979, where the idea was formulated in one of the pubs you will find if you take a walk down the cobbled streets of the Old Market Area. A short ten-minute walk from here will take you across the Old Victorian Park, where you will find the modern-day shopping Centre of Cabot Circus, home to local indie’s, high street and designer names alike.

UWE Bristol is on the doorstep of Fishponds, and is now offering the opportunity to students around the country to study Optometry, in turn ensuring a plentiful supply of Pre Reg and qualified Optometrists through the doors of this city and into store.

Bristol is what has become known to many as a ‘Foodie City’ and as the name suggests, your options are far from limited if you fancy a bite to eat in this metropolitan city. There is something for everyone, and you can expect a fantastic array to suit every taste, every time of day.

If you are looking to escape the city, you can jump on the train from Temple Meads and find yourself in quaint towns in just 30 minutes. However, if you would prefer to drive, you will find the peaceful suburb of Fishponds, just 3 miles outside the heart of the city and a 20-minute drive away.

Here, you will find some fantastic pubs and independent restaurants (the Foodie theme cannot be escaped!) regular Farmers Markets and Craft fairs, some stunning walks to include the Bristol and Bath Cycle Bath, a 13 mile off road route connecting the historic city of Bristol to stunning Georgian Bath, and of course, Fishponds Specsavers.

About the Store

About the store

Fishponds Specsavers has been opened since 2005 in its current location, and since then the existing partners have worked hard to grow and establish themselves in the local, predominately residential, area. Inside the doors you will find a dedicated team of 18, to include resident optometrists, Trainee DO’s progressing to Contact Lens Opticians, plus Optical and Lab Assistants, where the opportunity for growth and development is available. The store currently runs with three test rooms, with an integrated dual function Hearcare Room.

OCT is now available instore, and enhanced services is an area of current growth for the store.

The existing Partners also own Kingswood and Emmerson’s Green, and there is the potential for Partnership across all three stores in due course, so the size and scale and this opportunity is incredibly rare for the location, and not one to be missed.

There are plans at present for considerable development and expansion within the Fishponds store and the existing partners are actively working towards growing the business further. This is aided by an empty unit directly behind the store, where the current footfall and turnover can be considerably increased.

About you

Kevin and Neil are looking for someone who is people focused, commercially driven and puts the customer at the heart of every decision made. This is a community focused store, with a dedicated team who are given every chance to grow and enhance their knowledge. They are looking for a likeminded individual who will have the experience, dedication, and commitment to work with the existing partners and team to continue the growth and motivation already felt in store.

You will be a qualified and GOC registered Optometrist, and a practitioner who prides themself on their clinical judgment, unafraid of a hands-on approach, and someone who is keen to get involved and build a rapport with their team. In summary, you’ll be a highly skilled Optometry professional willing and able to help drive the practice forward.
