This large, well-established and well-known optician are now looking for an Optical Practice Manager to join their team in the Brighton area. You will be joining a large practice with 10 test rooms and a team of 50+, in a professional yet clinical environment. This opportunity will be working full time, 40-hours per week inclusive of weekends. Competitive salary depending on experience – up to £35,000 (could be open to negotiation) Bonus scheme Joining a large and supportive team of 50+ in a 10 test room practice. The practice already has a strong management team in place with several department managers but due to a recent change, are looking for an experienced senior manager to oversee the department managers, the practice as a whole whilst continuing to increase turnover and profit. Responsibilities of the Optical Practice Manager The main duties of this role will be to manage, control and keep a handle on all areas of the business including the shopfloor staff. You will be supported by a retail manager, an office manager, a contact lens manager and a dispensing manager but will be responsible and oversee the entire team. This role will include training & development, identifying areas of improvement; creating individual plans and targets as well as implementing these to overcome such areas. You will make sure the shopfloor team are seeing to patients, answering phones and completing their daily duties. You will have previous people management experience as you will be managing a team of 50+ staff. A strong optical knowledge is also required as you will be dispensing and leading from the front, setting a good example. Requirements of the Optical Practice Manager You will ideally have previous management experience and will need a minimum of 2 years’ experience in optics ideally at Practice Manager level. You will have experience in managing a large team and confidently be able to have a handle in a number of different areas. You will be a confident leader and be able to delegate, train staff and be on hand to keep control of the shopfloor. The ideal person will have previous performance management and has had experience in 1 to 1’s and managing KPI’s You will be a friendly, yet professional person who is able to work with and lead a team, whilst also create relationships and be on your team’s level. You will have previous optical experience and be competent in all dispensing as well as having a wide range of frames and lens knowledge.
