Mixed Veterinary Surgeon – Yorkshire

We are lucky to be situated in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and are a truly mixed, independent practice with a varied caseload.  Due to one of our lovely vets relocating and we’d like to expand the team, we are looking for a vet to join our friendly practice. There is a wealth of experience within our team of 9 vets, who are always happy to offer their support and share their knowledge. We have helped many new graduates start their careers in practice over the years and our VetGDP Advisor, Gavin, is ready and waiting to support a new grad. Equally if you’re a vet with some experience and have a passion you’re burning to develop just get in touch. We’re a forward-thinking practice; our default answer tends to be ‘yes’ rather than ‘no’, we have an open-door policy and are a very friendly supportive bunch. People enjoy working here and stay with us a long time. There is also the potential for long term partnership opportunities.   Our consults finish at a civilised 5.30pm, and time is provided during the day to catch up on admin, so you can normally be out the door on time. There is also a half day off each week, where you will finish at 1pm. We provide our own out-of-hours, covering a weeknight each week and a 1:7 first on call rota. We operate a 2^nd on call system to ensure you always have back up when needed. If you are recently graduated then one of the partners will also take the phones and triage calls as needed, as well as provide you with guidance and advice which is backed up by the 2^nd on-call vet. When you have worked a weekend first on-call, you will get a day off the following week. We have all the usual toys and gadgets needed to do a great job and are always happy to invest in new kit. We are also happy to chat about part-time roles. Our friendly, sociable team enjoy getting together inside and outside of work. Even our CPD evenings are pretty sociable, where we have food and drink, and are often joined by our neighbouring practice as we all get along well. We also have a Facebook group called ‘Swaleys’ which everyone is added to when you join the practice, so that you feel involved and included right from the beginning. Richmond is a picturesque Georgian market town where you will find a mixture of independent shops, cafes and pubs lining the cobbled streets along with museums, a cinema, and the theatre. It’s a great location for exploring the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park and with its spectacular scenery you won’t regret getting to know this amazing area, with its picture-postcard setting and great places for pub lunches.   We are offering:

• A salary of £35,000 to £50,000
• 27.5 days (5 weeks +) holiday plus bank holidays
• RCVS and VDS paid plus BVA membership & one other veterinary association
• Generous CPD allowance of 5 days with certificates supported
