An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the pharmacy clinical services team at King’s College Hospital, Denmark Hill.
The post holder will work closely with clinical services to develop provision and expansion of pharmacy technical department based activities.
This is a fantastic opportunity for professional development and will provide a greater insight into secondary care pharmacy services.

- Required to hold the NVQ Level 2 and relevant units in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent qualification) and meet the satisfactory practice-based levels of competency for this role.
- Ward based dispensing services to streamline patient discharges
- Participation in an innovative 7-day pharmacy service
- Engaging and working in collaboration with a broad multi-disciplinary team
- Ensuring medication storage and security criteria are met to comply with national standards
- To gain an underpinning knowledge and practical experience of performing medicines management duties
- Rotation through a wide range of specialties including critical care, neurology, cardiology and surgical/gastro medicine.
- To undertake medicines management accreditations for transcribing and patient’s own drug (POD) checks.
- Make decisions based on the relevant information to solve problems and refer where necessary to the appropriate pharmacist or medicines management technician any issues or queries related to the wards or dispensary.
- Assist in the transfer of medicines between wards and locating medicines that have been left behind when patients are transferred between wards.
- Be responsible for the stock management for designated ward(s) via a regular top up service and work with the pharmacy team to ensure that stock lists are regularly reviewed and updated.
- To ensure that medicine storage areas are clean, tidy and organised;
- Deal with problems associated with the ordering of stock and specials on behalf of the pharmacy team and refer where appropriate, liaising closely with pharmacy stores and procurement.
