Full Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated clinical pharmacist with excellent organisational and communication skills to join the Pharmacy High Cost Drugs Team. You will work with the Senior High Cost Drugs Pharmacist to maximise the cost-effective use of high cost drugs through engagement with clinical teams and patients, supporting prior approval processes, and ensuring medicines are being used according to commissioning criteria. 1. Work with the Clinical Commissioning Pharmacist, and Specialist Pharmacists to support the implementation of prior approval for high cost drugs (Blueteq). 2. Work with commissioners and clinicians to develop agreed treatment pathways where needed. 3. Provide complex clinical pharmaceutical advice to clinical specialists using high cost medicines; including contributing to specialist Multi-disciplinary team meetings, as required. 4. Provide training to staff on the use of the Blueteq system and high cost drugs commissioning. 5. Generate a daily report to ensure Trust compliance with commissioning arrangements. 6. Liaise with other Trusts to inform them of Blueteq requirements for patients transferring to their care, and to deal with queries around Shared Care between Secondary Care Trusts 7. Provide analysis and financial reports, as needed, to the Director of Pharmacy and Director of Finance on complex HCD spend within the Trust, highlighting areas of risk to income.
