Equine Veterinary Surgeon (EVS) – Fixed Term

Equine Veterinary Surgeon (EVS) South of Norwich, travel nationwide Fixed Term 10 months, thereafter one month rolling – Full Time Salary £27,500 to £35,000 per annum (depending on experience) (car or car allowance, company mobile phone, RCVS fees, BEVA membership, and relevant CPD) 37.50 hours 08.30 am – 16.30 pm Monday to Friday (flexible working may be required) Weekend Rota 1:6 or better The EVS will work alongside Redwings’ veterinary teams to provide professional support to the Welfare & Behaviour and Veterinary & Care Teams This varied role will include supporting external welfare work, assisting with investigations to help equines in situations of cruelty and neglect and providing in-house veterinary care for our 1,500 resident equines as part of our team of veterinary surgeons, qualified nurses, and nursing assistants. Our veterinary unit is well equipped and allows for surgical and intensive medical care of patients. There is a strong support network with mentorship and opportunities to discuss and work through cases with colleagues each day, with full back-up from our Field Officers, in-house behavioural and handling teams and other specialised teams. Equines requiring diagnosis and treatment may be unhandled or have significant behavioural problems and the EVS must be able to recognise and be sensitive to this when handling/treating these equines. Full guidance and in-person support is given for such patients. On call cover for our resident population is required. All call-outs are accompanied by a member of our experienced nursing team at night and weekends. Full support from fellow veterinary surgeons is available 24/7 by phone and in person. Full, clean, manual driving licence essential.
