Full Job Description

We are currently looking for a Band A Dentist to join our Homeless Dental Service to work for 1 day per week on a permanent basis. This post is an exciting opportunity to be part of a large, well-established community and specialist dental service, working amongst a professional, friendly dental team based in Soho. The role is clinical in nature and will involve providing general dental care for patients experiencing homelessness in the local community. The post holder will work with the Community and Specialist Dental Service Team to deliver dental care and advice and support to clients of the Homeless Dental Service within the Community Dental Service based at Soho Health Centre. Central London Community Healthcare (CLCH) is one of the largest community healthcare organisations in London and Hertfordshire, providing our services to diverse communities/boroughs in 11 London Boroughs – Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea, Merton, Richmond, Wandsworth, Westminster – and Hertfordshire.
  • Undertake thorough examination, diagnosis and assessment of patients.
  • Carry out treatment planning and care management for a range of patients.
  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate appropriate interventions to prevent disease and promote health for individual patients both in clinics and other settings.
  • Identify commonly occurring medical emergencies and lead the dental team in the appropriate first line management of the emergency, using appropriate techniques, equipment and drugs.
  • Use appropriate local anaesthetic and patient management approaches to control pain and anxiety during dental treatment.
  • Use sedation where required, if trained and appropriate.
  • Carry out routine exodontias and/or simple surgical exodontias.
  • Undertake appropriate assessment of patients to determine the need for specialist advice.
  • Undertake the diagnosis, selection of appropriate restorative techniques and delivery of restorations or replacement of teeth in an effective way.
