We are looking for a dedicated pharmacist with an interest & passion in Mental Health Rehabilitation services. CNWL has a strong commitment to advancing pharmacy practice and embedding effective medicines optimisation systems into patient care. If you are successful, you will work in a supportive, friendly and forward thinking environment. You will support the delivery of a comprehensive Medicines Optimisation Service to the Mental Health Rehabilitation wards at Horton, advocating a person centred approach to medication discussions. You will be supporting people on their journey to recovery, including self-management of medication. As a key member of the MDT, you will attend ward rounds and be an expert source of medicines advice and support, as well as provide medication related training to the MDT when required. Registered pharmacists are invited to apply for the post.
  • To provide a final accuracy check on prescriptions dispensed by pharmacy staff.
  • To ensure that work is undertaken in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • To provide counselling to outpatients on their prescribed medication.
  • To participate in the labelling, dispensing, checking and other processes involved with clinical trials medicine at St Charles Hospital in accordance with the standard operating procedures following a period of suitable training and accreditation.
  • To participate in on call, late duty, weekend and bank holiday duties as per departmental rota
  • Develop effective questioning techniques for gathering information and enquiry taking, knowledge of medicines information resources and how to answer medicines related enquiries to an acceptable standard.
  • To be able to critically appraise literature and give accurate interpretations in order improve use of medicines. This applies to all clinical settings.
Horton Rehabilitation Services is based within three acres of grounds just outside Epsom in Surrey. There are 4 wards including 2 high dependency wards, a managed access ward and an community rehabilitation ward. There is a full range professionals working in the service to provide care and treatment to who are experiencing a severe and enduring mental illness. This includes a peer support worker and the use of our recovery centre as as spoke of the Recovery College. We are part of the largest NHS mental health rehabilitation service in the country and accept patients from across London and the surrounding counties. There is free car parking on site. We want to support our staff in developing their knowledge and skills so support training. In addition to apprenticeships we are also supporting our staff to undertake training in Family Interventions, CBTp, and Advanced Clinical Practitioner training, amongst others. We are also keen to support our staff and to that end have been running groups to enhance people’s resilience as well as reflective practice. We are in the process of developing our sensory practices and facilities both for patients and staff in order to support well-being. Operational Tasks
