Assistant Audiologist
Full Job Description
37.5 Hours per week (Permanent)
Clinical provider of support, advice to patients and general maintenance of hearing aids as they attend aftercare clinics. This will include using IT software to program or exchange hearing aids if damaged/faulty, performing retubes, minor ear mould modifications and replace thin tubes and domes.
Take ear mould impressions (once achieved appropriate level of training).
The post holder has to organise their own workload within a very busy department whist ensuring the smooth running of all administration procedures.
Restocking clinical rooms, clinical preparations, stage A equipment checks.
Deal with patients with a disability and first line of contact for patients attending the department.
Input of patient details into AuditBase (patient management system).
This post will close once sufficient applications have been received.
You will be working for the South Tees NHS Foundation Trust which covers a very large geographical area stretching from South Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire. The Audiology Department itself is made up of 3 specialities currently. These are Adult Services, Auditory Implant Service & Paediatric Service. Your main duties will be with the Adult Service who see the greatest amount of patients.
The Adult team has within it, specialist experienced Audiologists that cover hard of hearing patients of varying degree, severely deafened & complex patients, Adults with Learning Difficulties, Tinnitus patients and Balance/Vestibular patients. They proceed to look after transitional patients (18yrs +) liaising with the Paediatric service and also diagnose and refer onwards to the Auditory Implant service for those patients who may require Bone Anchored Implantable Devices or Cochlear Implants. It is an extremely busy, vibrant, interesting and varied service with a team to match who are always willing to help, advise and encourage where required.
