Full Job Description

Brief overview of the role Excellent opportunity to follow a career path which can lead from Optical Assistant to Dispensing Optician to Optometrist. You will work at John High Opticians, an established Optometrists, helping individuals choose the correct frames and lenses for their glasses, as well as doing other screening tests such as visual fields and retinal photos.
  • Working week
  • 9-5 mon-fri
  • Total hours per week: 37.5
Vacancy description Optical Assistant Your job will include the following tasks,
  • Making appointments,
  • Meeting and greeting patients,
  • Updating the company’s social media accounts
  • Filing/Scanning
  • Spectacle repairs
  • Guiding patients to choose the right frames for them
  • Discussing lens options with patients
  • Discussing and teaching how to use contact lenses
  • Ancillary testing eg visual field testing, retinal photography
  • Ordering and checking jobs.

Support in further training Desired skills The following will be required:
  • Driving licence (preferable but not essential)
  • Good Computer skills eg Social media savvy and happy using Google Docs, Word, Excel etc.
