Full Job Description

We have vacancy of 3 days a week for a Specialist / Advanced Optometrist (Band 7) to join our progressive friendly optometry team at Oxford Eye Hospital on at Main JR site This post will give you a varied job plan depending on your experience to date and changing demands on the service. The post will suit those who have experience in hospital optometry or who have undertaken College of optometrists post graduate professional cert/ higher qualifications. Additional training will be given as needed to meet service demands. Core optometry opportunities include pediatric refractions, working alongside orthoptists in outreach clinics, medical contact lens – management of keratoconus and scleral lens fitting. Low vision service for adults and peds. You may be involved in eye casualty telephone triage and for those with IP, opportunities in face-to-face eye casualty. Other extended roles include glaucoma, cornea, uveitis, AMD, medical retina clinics, ultrasound and electrophysiology. Experience in any of these fields and/or working towards relevant further qualifications in glaucoma, medical retina or independent prescribing will strengthen your application, however full training will be given as needed to help meet service demands. RESPONSIBILITIES Deliver core optometry including low vision, contact lens fitting for keratoconus and complex refractions. Work closely with the orthoptic and ophthalmology colleagues in management of paediatric cases. Work in areas of extended role depending on skills, experience and service needs.
