Abbey Vets in South Wales has a fantastic opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly, experienced team. In this role, you will be provided with a real work-life balance and career progression so you can achieve your full potential. The role would primarily be based in our Monmouth and Abergavenny branches. Our Practice: We have 13 vets, including certificate holders in surgery, medicine and radiology as well as a visiting cardiologist – meaning there is excellent case support when required and great learning opportunities. Our practice is spread across 4 well-equipped, RCVS accredited sites there is a varied and interesting caseload. Our main site is located in Abergavenny, with branches in Monmouth, Tredegar, and Brecon. We have all the usual toys you would expect, and all branches have ultrasound, digital x-ray and blood analysers. Very little is referred, although full clinical freedom is given where this is required. There is 24-hour care available Monday to Friday at our main site in Abergavenny ensuring our vets can provide fantastic patient care and case continuity is insured. Rota: Our full-time vets work a 4-day week, with 1:5 full Saturdays along with 1:20 Saturday mornings. The ideal candidate would be able to work 3-4 days per week, and contribute to the Saturday rota, with the option of 1:4 Saturday mornings only in our Monmouth branch, or full day Saturdays in our Abergavenny branch. It is more important to us to find a candidate who is a good fit for our team, and we are open to considering other working options for the right candidate. The role would primarily be split between our Monmouth and Abergavenny branches, with a bias towards one branch over the other being possible. Our diary is designed with set breaks throughout the day for phone calls/case research, as well as a dedicated lunch hour. There is a great mix of consulting and operating both at the main site in Abergavenny and at Branches. Why us? We have experience supporting colleagues at all points in their career, from newly graduated vets to those returning after a career break, to those working towards a certificate and those wanting to pursue leadership/management roles.
